An independent school providing a first class academic education for boys and girls from the age of 3 to 16 Years

St John's School Porthcawl

Ysobel Hopkins (Jones)

I am a lawyer and joined the Board of Governors in 2006.

My connection with the school goes back to the late 1980s when both my children were at St John’s. They loved it. Josie (now a doctor) was the first girl to play in the football team and Edward (Woody) thrived in the encouraging atmosphere. I was the Chair of the Friends of St John’s for 2 years. I am delighted to have the opportunity to put something back.

I have practised in different areas of the law since 1975 and presently work in the magistrates’ court, the Social Security Appeal Tribunal and the Asylum and Immigration Appeal Tribunal. I have long experience in criminal, youth and family courts all of which has given me an insight to lives less fortunate than ours.
I am married to John who is a Golf and Rugby Journalist.
