Music & Drama
In St John’s music and drama are very much an active and all-inclusive experience. Pupils receive weekly music and drama lessons from a young age. They also have regular opportunities to perform in and out of school.
We nurture positive attitudes and believe that with praise and hard work self -esteem and confidence develop well. We try to help pupils foster a caring attitude and understanding of each other that helps their creativity and enthusiasm and gives a feeling of security.
We offer a wide range of instrumental tuition on strings, including guitar, brass, woodwind, percussion and piano and we regularly have vocal and instrumental concerts. During the year pupils perform musically both individually and in groups, and in dramas in English, French, German and Welsh. Each year we have a European concert, Harvest festivals, carol services and nativity performances as well as our Eisteddfod, a summer concert and numerous other events that include the whole school, and on occasions parents and members of staff. Currently 3 of our pupils are members of the National Children’s Choir of Great Britain and one is a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.
