Interact
Interact is Rotary International’s Service club for young people ages 14-18
Interact clubs are sponsored by individual Rotary Clubs which support and guide the Interactors in developing local and international service projects. Interact derives its name from the words ‘International’and ‘Action’ reflecting the nature of the organisation that exists in 110 countries.
Individual Interact Clubs are self-governing and self supporting, offering many opportunities for members to develop valuable leadership and teamwork skills. Each club carries out local service projects that benefit its community or school, such as fundraising for a variety of causes.
The group at St John’s, called the ‘Avengers’ – a name chosen by the very first Interact group here in 1997 meet during a lunch break, during which time business decisions are made. Each member of the group has a role to play and a committee is formed each year. Each committee member was voted for by the others in the group.
