Activities
The Estyn inspection in October 2007 highlighted the extra-curricular provision at the school as an outstanding feature. For a small school there is a wide range of out-of-hours activities and opportunities available, as well as the many different experiences on offer within the broad curriculum areas.
There are many opportunities for pupils of all ages to participate in drama and musical productions as well as full participation across a range of sports for both teams and individuals. A local dance teacher provides lessons in ballet and modern dance for interested pupils
There are numerous educational and cultural visits, including regular trips to Germany or France as well as trips to both local and London theatres and museums.
After school clubs and activities include golf, rugby, football, badminton, chess, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Spanish.
Extra lessons are available in a wide range of musical instruments.
Community involvement includes the running of the Interact group (junior Rotary), strong links with St. John’s Church Newton where we regularly have school assemblies and hold our annual Harvest and Carol Services, and participation in many local competitions and events such as the library and police quiz competitions.
We also have strong links with EBP, Careers Wales and schemes such as Healthy Schools.
