School Life
At St John’s there are plenty of opportunities to be busy and involved in our community in many ways, as well as working hard to achieve high standards. From reading in an assembly to organising a fund-raising event, from attending an after-school activity to learning a musical instrument we are keen to enhance all pupils’ learning experiences through different aspects of school life.
The setting of the school is a very positive asset to our pupils’ learning. Newton Beach, being only a five minute walk from school provides an ideal “open air classroom” and is a perfect location for geography field trips and outdoor science lessons. The village of Newton is very close as is the beautiful 12th century St John’s Church.
The school itself is set in lovely wooded surroundings. The school grounds are attractive and provide ample space for sport and play with full size rugby and football pitches and a netball and tennis court, as well as further play areas. The original school house sits alongside more recently constructed facilities which include a spacious multi-purpose sports and performance hall and a purpose- built, light and cheerful Pre Prep building.
“I like St John’s because the teachers are very good and because all of the teachers have helped me.”
James Yr 7
