I have been a governor since 2004 and, as a Chartered Accountant, concentrate on all the financial aspects of running the school. I qualified with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (now part of PriceWaterhouseCoopers) in 1986 and have had my own practice since 1991. I have a small number of long-standing corporate clients for each of whom I act as part of their management team, ensuring good financial disciplines are adhered to and working closely with them in all areas of financial and general business management as they grow.
My wife Catherine (who is very involved with the Friends of St John’s) and I moved from London in 1999 and have been parents at St John’s since then. We have two boys at the school, Hugh and William. Both have blossomed right from the start at St John’s and to me this is what the school is so good at – bringing out the best in its pupils, instilling a confidence that prepares them well both as they move up through the school and thereafter.
St John‘s is proud of its independent, charitable status. It enables the governors to follow a strategy, every part of which is devoted to developing this ethos. I feel privileged to be part of that.
