Following a recent governors’ meeting we are pleased to announce the election of Mrs Jenny Sanders as Chair of Governors and would like to thank the previous Chair Mr Richard Shearer for his years of loyal service.
Our board of governors is made up of members of the local community including past parents, as well as representation from current parents. Each governor brings specific talents and expertise to support the running of the school. The Governing Body shares the school vision of developing the individual child to their potential academically and developing confidence within a disciplined framework.

It was with great pleasure that we recently welcomed our partner school in France for their third visit to St. John’s. A full day’s programme began with a welcoming assembly in the Crampton Hall , and after this the staff and pupils of St. Gilles joined senior pupils in their classes.
Later in the morning our guests went on a tour of the village which included a visit to St. John’s church and an interesting talk by Mr. Gwyn Petty.

The Pre Prep had a wonderful time when Porthcawl Fire Brigade came to talk to us about how to keep safe. The fireman told us a story about a little girl called Tanni who found matches and caused a fire in her bedroom.
Some of us could try on the fireman’s helmet, boots, leggings, jacket and gloves. Now Parents, the exciting bit is about to be heard! We all went outside to the fire engine and got to sit on the driver’s seat and put on the siren. We also had a go at squirting water from the hose and hitting a target. You might be shocked because the seniors were looking out of their classroom windows— getting a bit jealous because they did not get a turn!
