Which brings me to my usual phrase—”Try and Play everyday”. Practising is so essential for all musicians to improve and
to feel increased self-esteem and confidence. Just 15 minutes a day makes a huge impact!
P charts look very impressive when full of P’s

January 2006
Hello!
A Happy New Year and what better way to start a new term than with a 2006 Music News.
Christmas is over, long live the Eisteddfod. Yes, Eisteddfod fever is building! Welsh songs, German songs, French songs, English songs... lots of instrumental competitions, plays and the infamous 'battle of the house choirs!' This year's song is Sosban Fach, I'm sure you will hear it drifting around the school.
The Highlights evening is on 9th March and it will also incorporate St John's first clothes show, brought to you by Years 8-11, unmissable!
Sam Castanera is competing on Saturday, 28th January in Maesteg Town Hall for the title of Bridgend County Singer 2006. Good luck, Sam!
Elan Edry has been accepted into the Bridgend County's children's choir, well done Elan.
Archan Bhaumik has been asked to perform in a concert arranged by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music to be held on 19th February in Brackla Community Centre. He gained an exceptionally high distinction at Grade 4 and it is a huge honour to be asked. Congratulations, Archan!
We now have a vocal tutor, Mrs Shaw, who will be giving private lessons on Mondays. I'm sure that pupils will really enjoy her tuition.
Hopefully, this term, we will be having a violin/viola workshop (details to follow).
If anyone has an unused keyboard that they no longer need I would love to give any unwanted keyboard a new home (in the music room)!
Years 3-7 are off to see 'Dazzle' in the Pavilion on 26th February (in school time) 2 of our pupils, Holly Atkinson, Tom Skalitzky-Newman and Katie Brown will be performing in it, with the Pavilion's Youth Theatre.
There are many local drama groups if your child shows an interest. Please see me for further details or you can look on the music noticeboard (opposite the boys changing room).
Thank you for your attention.
