St John’s has the value-added factor!
Once again St John’s proved it has the “value-added factor” when Year 11 students received their GCSE results. Overall 42% of all results were at Grades A* or A, compared to the national average of 22%. Particularly pleasing were James Kearle and Bethanie Denyer who followed in last year’s Head Boy’s and Head Girl’s footsteps by achieving 9 A*s and As each, best results in school. Bethanie should be especially congratulated as not only did she achieve her Mathematics GCSE at grade A when she was in year 10, but also this year she achieved Statistics and her Sciences amongst her 7 A*s. Bethanie also achieved a pass in a free-standing additional further mathematics qualification.
The small school with its family ethos has shown again how 100% of its pupils, whatever their ability, achieve above and beyond early expectations. Not only do able pupils achieve high grades but children who have to work extra hard to overcome difficulties succeed in examinations due to the supportive learning environment of the school. Headmistress, Mrs Clint stated how proud she and all the staff are of the pupils and their achievements. All pupils have the opportunity to study not only all the core subjects but at least one language as well as a range of other academic subjects. Congratulations also go to the Year 10 pupils who received very good results for their Science Modules and for examinations taken early in French and German. Well done also to Madeleine Sarll who sat her GCSE German at St John’s 2 years early and achieved an A* with an amazing 100%!
